Microsoft boasts that Windows 7 will be
able to provide 3D acceleration using only the CPU power. For this they
provide WARP 10 (Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform), a platform capable
of supporting the processing of Direct3D 10 and 10.1, part of API DirectX 10
and 10.1. Amenities include support for 8x Antialiasing and Anisotropic
filtering, terms known by gamers.
Who is aderesează this feature? Those who
do not have a separate graphics card, but want to run the operating system with
3D interface similar to Windows Vista Aero. To demonstrate that the performance
of a WARP 10 is superior integrated graphics solutions from Intel, the people
at Microsoft have run Crysis at 800x600 resolution at the lowest level of
detail. Unfortunately, the test was relatively irrelevant because they used a
system with an Intel Core i7 with 8 cores. Who can afford it, money and a
separate graphics card.
Using WARP 10, the game ran 7.36 fps and with
integrated video card he moved with only 5.17 fps.
In light of the foregoing, we cannot say
that Microsoft initiative is really beneficial for the common user. In the
absence of a powerful processor, 3D acceleration could slow down work with the
operating system. In addition, WARP 10 is not a viable solution for 3D gaming
even "light" in terms of graphics system requirements. The
performance offered by one of the most powerful processors currently relevant
in this regard. We can say more when we get Windows 7.
